Fisser Almabtrieb – A festival of colors and sounds

A highlight of the fall is without a doubt the cattle drive, which takes place in Fiss on September 21.
This traditional event marks the end of summer for the cows, which have been allowed to graze on the lush Alpine meadows throughout the summer.
Adorned with elaborately decorated headdresses, cowbells ringing melodiously and accompanied by the Fiss music band, they return to the valley.
This event is a real feast for the senses and captivates not only the locals.
Framed by a cheerful festival with traditional music and Tyrolean delicacies, the Almabtrieb offers an authentic insight into rural life and its customs.

“Art on the mountain” on the peaks of the Fiss mountains

From September 7 to 29, the Schönjoch will be transformed into a stage for the “Art on the Mountain” event.
Here, at an altitude of 2,436 meters, artists from all over the world create their works right in front of visitors.
This unique spectacle offers the rare opportunity to observe art in the making, surrounded by the majestic mountain backdrop, which itself appears like a painting.
